Case Study: Crane Composites, Inc.

Crane Composites is the world’s leading provider of fiberglass-reinforced panels, with a particular focus on the Recreational Vehicle sector. For over 60 years, the company has pioneered its superior product line and operates five manufacturing facilities as well as twelve warehouses.

The Challenge

In the midst of acquiring plants and factories, Crane Composites realized it had a big problem: None of the systems in those acquired properties were compatible with the one in their corporate headquarters.

How bad was it? Since the company’s locations weren’t “speaking” the same language, information couldn’t be exchanged easily between plants, factories and offices.

A partner to help standardize and modernize all location systems was needed in a hurry.

THE SOLUTION

To bring aging communications systems up to date, Medlin equipped Crane with VoIP technology and installed new phone systems in each plant.

However, at Medlin, we don’t just install a new system and leave. We visited each site and trained employees on how to use the new system. As that new system went “live,” our team was on hand to field any new questions or issues to make the transition as smooth as possible.

The Results

The innovative networking methods used by Medlin have resulted in plants being connected and integrated into one system. The result is a giant cost savings, including over $10,000 a year in one location alone.

Medlin is now an integral part of the expansion strategy at Crane Composites. When a new plant is acquired, we’re involved in every aspect of system integration, from assessment to install to training.

“When we acquire a new plant, Medlin is ‘Johnny on the spot’ – visiting the new site, assessing what we need, taking out the old system, installing a new one and training employees how to operate it. The entire process takes less than one week.”

IT Director
